Join us for our annual September 11th Remembrance Event on Wednesday, September 11th at 1pm at the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center.
This year’s keynote speakers include Ronaldo Vega and Michael Kenny, both of whom responded in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks.
Ronaldo Vega served on the 9/11 Disaster Rescue and Recovery Team at Ground Zero from September 2001 to July 2002. An architect with over 40 years of experience, he later served as the Senior Director of Design for the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum. He helped save and nurture the Survivor Tree, which has been replanted at the National 9/11 Memorial. Thanks to Vega’s efforts, a seedling of the Survivor Tree is now at the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial. He has contributed significantly to various memorials, including the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial.
Mike Kenny served on the 9/11 Disaster Rescue and Recovery Team at Ground Zero from September 2001 to April 2002. As Project Executive for the NYC Department of Design and Construction, he played a key role in recovery programs after Super Storm Sandy, helping restore 150,000 affected homes. Kenny has also testified before Congress, advocating for health care for Ground Zero workers.
The remembrance ceremony will also feature patriotic music performed by the Kewaskum High School band and the Honor Guard from American Legion Robert G. Romaine Post 384.
Visitors are advised that U.S. Highway 45 is currently under construction, but the memorial remains accessible by following posted detours.
