It was another great year for the Rettler Run to support the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center.
Pete Rettler, Dean of the Moraine Park Technical College’s West Bend campus, hasn’t missed a day of running in 29 years! To celebrate the anniversary of this amazing feat, Pete holds a charity run every year on New Year’s Eve. For the past four years, he has been running to support the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center.
A lofty goal
This year, Pete had a goal of raising $10,000 to support the Memorial’s efforts to maintain the Memorial and educate future generations about the September 11th attacks on our country. The goal was to raise the money through sponsorships, run entries, donations, and entries into Jack’s Run.
Hitting our stride
A couple of weeks prior to the event, it was cold and dreary, and Pete was worried that we had to make up significant ground if we were going to hit our goal. However, our fantastic runners and donors came through, and at the end of the day, the Rettler Run 5K raised a whopping $13,801 for the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial!
In total, there were 224 entries into the Rettler Run, 3,025 entries into Jack’s Run, and many more sponsor dollars and donations that allowed us to crush our goal.
Thank you, sponsors!
